FRONTIER INCIDENTS.

Hon. C.S.P.

The situation, in general, along the north-

east and north-west frontiers is as last reported.

Inter-trade is still confined to local products, but

I hear that quantities of foreign goods and kerosene

are being smuggled into Chinese Territory from Deep

南頭

Bay and around Nam Tau.

The FAN TAM

The FẪN TAN and PO TZE gambling booths at

Sham Chun have re-opened. Several natives of the

New Territories are interested in the business. Each

FAN TAN booth and each PO TZE table pays a daily

revenue of $7 and $1.80, respectively, to the Officer

深圳

in Command of the Sham Chun garrison, the money thus

collected being sent to Canton.

On the 26th inst., 100 troops arrived at im t Sham Chun from Canton to re-inforce the local garrison to assist, it is said, in suppressing the activities

of bandits.

Hon. C.S.P.

In both

There is nothing of special note to report from the north-west and Mirs Bay frontiers. quarters the general situation is as last reported. Trade in local produce is gradually approaching pre- strike proportions, but there is little indication

so far of a revival in foreign trade.
